Animal Models Clarify the Neural Processes Behind Information-Seeking Behavior

The motivation to seek information to resolve uncertainty about rewards and punishments seems to be strong in both humans and animals. However, not that much is known about information seeking in the realm of punishments. The researchers designed an experiment to simultaneously measure the behavioral attitudes of monkeys toward information about punishments and rewards and investigated the prefrontal cortical substrates of these preferences.
