In this case, we are looking at a 62-year-old Caucasian female with a diagnosis of cardiovascular disease and diabetes who presents to her primary care physician’s office with decreased appetite, feeling fatigued, loss of interest, increase in sleep, and episodes of crying spells for the past four weeks. This is the first time she is seeking help due to the fact that she finds it difficult to perform her normal day-to-day activities.
Ms. S complains of both physical and emotional symptoms for the past four weeks. After conducting a review of her chart and performing a brief physical exam, the physician does notice that Ms. S has experienced some weight loss as well.
