Third, people with NES can improve satiety by following a regular eating schedule and choosing foods that prolong feelings of fullness. “Fourth, disruptions in circadian rhythms can be improved by eating on a regular schedule, practicing good sleep hygiene and engaging in physical activity,” says Vander Wal.

Bright light therapy may be another way to improve NES symptoms, possibly by helping to increase serotonin or to regulate the biological clock. Vander Wal and colleagues also saw improvements in participants who received education about the symptoms, causes and effects of NES. “People often benefit from trying more than one strategy and need to be persistent in their efforts,” she says.
