With individuals who have severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), there is a higher risk of contracting COVID‐19. But those with SPMI may experience more difficulties with quarantining or self‐isolation due to stigma, illness, and marginalization. Unfortunately, there still isn’t a consensus on strategies to aid those with SPMI.

Depressive Disorders

While depression is a common psychiatric disorder, the underlying biological basis isn’t quite understood. Researchers sought to pair depression polygenic scores with the results of clinical laboratory tests in an attempt to reveal the biological processes involved in depression etiology and in the physiological changes resulting from depression.
